Physical Assessment

You don’t have to be sick to request an exam. The physical exam can be a good time to ask your PCP questions about your health or discuss any changes or problems that you have noticed.

Manual Therapy

Treatment may include moving joints in specific directions and at different speeds to regain movement (joint mobilization and manipulation), muscle stretching, passive movements of the affected body part, or having the patient move the body part against the therapist’s resistance to improve muscle activation and timing. Selected specific soft tissue techniques may also be used to improve the mobility and function of tissue and muscles.”

Exercise Prescription

Exercise prescription commonly refers to the specific plan of fitness-related activities that are designed for a specified purpose, which is often developed by a fitness or rehabilitation specialist for the client or patient.

Electrotherapy is the use of electrical energy as a medical treatment. … The term has also been applied specifically to the use of electric current to speed wound healing. Additionally, the term “electrotherapy” or “electromagnetic therapy” has also been applied to a range of alternative medical devices and treatments.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound refers generally to any type of ultrasonic procedure that uses ultrasound for therapeutic benefit. Physiotherapeutic ultrasound was introduced into clinical practice in the 1950s, with lithotripsy introduced in the 1980s.

Shockwave Therapy

While shockwave therapy has been shown to be beneficial in fracture healing, most orthopedic research has focused on upper and lower extremity tendinopathies, fasciopathies, and soft tissue conditions.

... Annie has been so helpful in my recovery journey. She is so knowledgeable about the right exercises and following her advice has solidly improved my torn hip labrum and its range of motion so quickly. I was amazed with the progress I saw in just a week and have been so positive and grateful for Annie’s help. I also appreciate that she also caters her advice specific to her patients, ie what their day to day life is like / hobbies / goals and really asks for as much information she can get about you to be crystal clear about what you might need more of or less of. Will continue to come to Annie with any issues or injuries I get in the future because she is extremely trustworthy and just a lovely person to see in general 🙂 thank you Annie!read more

... Physiotherapist Annie is the most personable and professional expert I could have ever had the high hopes of meeting and being treated by; my condition has improved out of sight and I now have such a positive attitude to the aging process, not fatalistic and negative but optimistic in every way. Putting the bends and stretches into regular action is clearly the key to the best possible outcome, and even the avoidable habit of crossing my legs when seated has been 'exposed' as being counterproductive! It is now up to me to be vigilant and avoid bad habits, well done Annnie, your latest fan, Peter Boyce, 72 years old.read more
